A
SUMMER OF INTERACTIVE FUN FOR EVERYONE
Yes…Cairo
is spreading its
wings. A
wonderful public arts project will be taking place throughout the
township for the summer of 2009. 42 Big, Bold, Beautiful
Bodacious
Bears will be coming out of hibernation and taking up residence along
Main Street and throughout the hamlets at your favorite restaurants,
businesses, and Inns. Cairo’s Cubs have been sponsored by
businesses,
organizations, and individuals throughout our area and have been
decorated by 34 of our most talented artists.
The
Cairo’s Bears and
Butterflies
Committee has come up with the idea of making this wonderful public
arts project even more fun by creating several interactive components.
First,
each artist has
hidden a small
butterfly or butterflies somewhere on his/her bear. As you and
your
family are enjoying the project you can also search for the
butterflies. Its Cairo’s version of “Where’s Waldo”!!
Where’s the
Butterfly!! Additionally, in an effort to tie our project in with
the
400th anniversary of the discovery of the Hudson River, we are creating
a Quadricentennial Quest Map, which will be available at sponsoring
businesses throughout the Township. Each Bear will be located on
the
map and as “Quest Explorers” visit each cub, they will also collect
clues that will help them answer questions about Henry Hudson. By
coming up with the correct answers, they will automatically qualify for
a chance to win exciting prizes.

The
Bears will be on
display in Cairo
and throughout the hamlets from Memorial Day through early October.
Following their summer around town, they will be auctioned on Sunday,
October 11 at the Bear A “Fair” Gala and Auction being held at
Blackhead Mountain Lodge and Country Club in Round Top. This will
be
your chance to bid on and win a bear of your own.
